It is a Tie for First Place
...Firelands Challenge Results
After six rounds of competition in the regular season of the Firelands Challenge Program, two teams came out on top. Teams from Norwalk High School and Port Clinton High School both ended the season with 343 cumulative points and have earned their way into the Championship Rounds.
Teams from St. Mary, Edison, and Huron finished in the third through fifth positions. However, those positions could change if any of the teams file appeals for answers they supplied but had the responses ruled incorrect.
Those three teams are headed for the Play-off Round. Their positions on stage are determined by where they finish in cumulative scores. The winner of the Play-off Round will advance to the Championship Rounds and play Norwalk and Port Clinton.
Edison and Huron played each other in the sixth round along with Willard. Edison and Huron tied each other in that match.
“The ties and close scores we have had are evidence of just how competitive these matches have been throughout the season,” commented William Muthig, the program’s coordinator.
The Round Six match scores were:
- Norwalk 67, Bellevue 15, and South Central 13
- Perkins 45, Lakota 25, and Danbury 19
- Edison 53, Huron 53, and Willard 18
- Port Clinton 65, St. Mary 49, and Monroeville 8
- New London 29, Sandusky 28, and Margaretta 21
