ED and Related Services

North Point Educational Service Center offers classes for students with emotional disturbances at two (2) facilities. The North Point Alternative Learning Center (NPALC) in Sandusky has approximately 70 students, grades K~12, servicing children from 16 districts in Erie, Huron and Sandusky Counties. The second facility at the Graytown Building in Oak Harbor has between 20 and 25 students, also grades K~12 from six (6) districts in Ottawa and Sandusky Counties. All of the students in the program are on IEPs.

The main purpose of our ED program is to help the students, through a variety of interventions, learn coping strategies so they can control and/or change their behaviors while completing the academic requirements of their district. Our long term goal is always to transition the student back to their home school district when the team feels the student can successfully make the move. The program follows the common core standards and administers the same state testing as a public school. All teachers are highly qualified.

As important as all the college degrees are to us, the caring and supportive nature that our staff shows for their students is equally important. Each of our students are children that need more help, encouragement and, often love, than typical kids need. Our staff is always mindful of these needs and works to maintain a firm, nurturing but respectful environment in their classes. Our class sizes are small, and the academic day is highly structured which is a benefit to our students.

Our program is also very "school family" oriented. We try to have monthly school-wide activities where all grades participate, older students with younger ones, having fun working out issues as you would in a family or society in general. Our students have physical education, art class and access to a sensory room, as well as occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, and school counseling if their IEP includes this.

We invite you to call or visit our school, our kids, and our caring team of professionals.

Other programs available based on district participation are:
