Continuum of Learning Collaborative
CONTINUUM OF LEARNING COLLABORATIVE
NPESC established a Continuum of Learning Collaborative in May 2020 in response to the global pandemic to provide support to all schools in the service region. The goal of the collaborative was to collectively leverage the talent, expertise, and experience of the region to help districts develop the best strategy for supporting the continuous learning of all of its students in these uncertain times. We have the opportunity to collect that knowledge across the region and, while maintaining our individual identities, design our plans for learning in collaboration when it makes sense.
The Collaborative was led by a facilitation team made up of educational consultants from NPESC and StartSOLE. District design teams met with the facilitation team twice a week from May 2020 through July 2020 to develop “Continuum of Learning” plans for remote, hybrid and face-to-face instructional delivery. Design team leaders continued to meet with NPESC’s facilitation team from September 2020 - June 2021 to receive support and on-going guidance from regional colleagues and NPESC leaders as the Continuum of Learning plans were implemented.
In the spring of 2021, the members of the Collaborative worked in consultation with NPESC facilitators on the development of their individual district extended learning plans. An electronic dashboard enabled all team leaders in the Collaborative to have access to each other’s plans to share ideas and resources as plans were being developed. This dashboard allows the NPESC team to closely monitor and support the needs of individual districts as well as plan support for collective impact across the region.
An evaluation of participant satisfaction and value was conducted during this process. 100% of respondents indicated that they want to continue the work of the collaborative. Sample responses:
“I have tremendous appreciation and respect for everyone involved. I appreciate the initiative and organization from Northpoint...,” “The willingness from StartSOLE was outstanding, and the opportunity to collaborate with the best colleagues I’ve ever worked with...,” “ While our minds were floating around with so many thoughts and ideas, it was nice to have a process for everyone to go through together and learn from each other while putting everything in one place...,” “It was a great learning process helping our team get organized and focus on what is important.”
The Continuum of Learning Collaborative members continued to meet during the 2021-22 school year to study the topics of Literacy, SEL/Wellness and High school Redesign. The work of the Collaborative also provided continued support for each district with implementation and refinement of extended learning plans. These plans will evolve indefinitely as additional needs from the effects of the lingering pandemic are uncovered.
As a result of the extremely positive feedback from participants, the Collaborative is full steam ahead for the 2022-23 school year. For information about the areas of focus and meeting dates, click on the following link: https://www.smore.com/
