...Norwalk Moves Up in Standings
The final match in Round IV of the Firelands Challenge competition saw the team from Edison High School earn the highest score of the season. The second highest score in the round was 53. Perkins and Willard earned that score.
Edison scored all of the points in the first question category, Current Events, and never looked back. It scored points in the first six categories before the teams from New London and Port Clinton could get on the board.
Shirley Wallrabenstein, co-advisor to Edison’s team commented on the team’s performance. “The Edison advisors are so very thankful for the extremely hardworking, dedicated, and super awesome members of the Edison academic team who diligently worked together to earn this record-breaking score!”
The victory extends Edison’s lead in the competition to 39 points. Willard maintained its 13 point lead over Perkins to stay in second place. Perkins is in third. Norwalk moved up another notch to fourth place in the standings.
Edison’s performance featured answering questions in all ten of its regular question categories, capturing both toss-up questions, and answering a team choice question on music theory. It also picked up 14 bonus points by answering questions posed to the other teams. Edison is averaging 57 points per match.
