Summary of Academic Challenge 5-8 County Matches
The 2019-2020 Academic Challenge for 5th ,6th, 7th and 8th grades teams across four counties; Huron, Ottawa, Erie, and Sandusky are now complete! These competitions give students a chance to show what they know outside of the classroom. They develop good team working skills through practice and preparation for the matches. Public speaking and performance are enhanced as they compete in front of mixed audiences, and good sportsmanship is a must as they meet peers from different districts and skills. It is a great springboard for what becomes a chance at scholarship money at the high school level.
Overall, they show they knowledge of the assigned book, ability to compute math, awareness of history, government, economics, and geography, and finally just some fun category knowledge. These are quick paced competitions.
