ED and Related Services

The program for students with Emotional Disabilities consists of two (2) sites. Townsend School is located in Vickery, Ohio and consists of 7 classrooms, grades K-12. Townsend services 15 different school districts. The Camper Building is located in Genoa, Ohio and consists of two (2) classrooms, grades K-12. Camper services five (5) different school districts. All classrooms have certified special education teachers. Class size is limited to 10 students. Both programs provide an adaptive, flexible, and nurturing environment in a therapeutic educational setting for students with emotional disabilities. The programs' primary focus is helping our students acquire the appropriate behavioral and social skills needed to become independent, successful, and employable members of the community/society.

Services offered through the ED Program:

  • Level System - placement determined by daily points, daily work averages and critical events
  • Individual Behavior Contracts
  • Counseling
  • Earned Activities
  • Transition Services
  • Social Skills Curriculum
  • Individualize Academics
  • School Resource Officer
  • Work-Study Services
  • Speech, OT, PT and Adaptive PE Services

Other programs available based on district participation are:

  • Huron County Alternative Program (located at Townsend School)
  • Alternative Assistance Program

Erie County Juvenile Detention Center & Community Corrections Facility

The North Point Educational Service Center provides educational services to students that are placed in the detention home and/or the community corrections facility. Education is provided throughout the school year as well as during the summer months. Some students are educated through the Virtual Learning Academy.
