Ottawa County Spelling Bee Finalists

The Annual Ottawa County Spelling Bee was held on Tuesday, February 6, at the Port Clinton City Schools Performing Arts Center.  Thirty-two students from from grades 5-8 represented their building in anticipation of becoming one of the four finalists and eligible to attend the regional Northwest Ohio Blade Championship Bee in March.  The winner of The Blade Bee wins an all-expense paid trip to The Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

North Point E.S.C. employees (Linda Stauffer, Sandra Butzin) coordinate the Annual Ottawa County Bee along with assistance from representatives of the Port Clinton Women’s Club.

The following students are the four finalists and will be continuing at the Northwest Ohio Blade Championship Bee:  

1st Place—Bryce James, Grade 6, Port Clinton Middle School
      2nd Place—Makenna Lucas, Grade 5, Genoa Elementary School
    3rd Place—Spencer Heintz, Grade 6, Oak Harbor Middle School
          4th Place—Grace Draeger, Grade 6, Woodmore Elementary School
