Center Assists with Crisis Management Training
The North Point Educational Service Center, in partnership with the Erie County Sheriff’s Department, the University of Findlay and EHOVE Career Center, hosted a regional program for school administrators, law enforcement officers and first responders focused toward crisis management of school-based incidents. Approximately fifty people attended the eight (8) hour training.
The program, which was designed by the nation’s top safety officials and approved by the Department of Homeland Security, provided participants with practical and proven strategies for responding to school emergencies. Participants learned about school building vulnerabilities, threat assessment, danger mitigation, crisis response strategies, leadership roles, incident defusing, prioritizing responses, and command communication.
With the increase in violence in the world, and threats by groups to increase violence within our nation’s borders, the information provided through this program was very important. Denny Doughty (Superintendent/Norwalk City Schools) gave the training a “thumbs up”, noting it was “good and important” and recommended that every school district should attend this training.
